Meet Leah! Our Camp Administrator

Hello, My name is Leah Gordon. I will be serving as administrator for the MINDscapes summer camp. I wanted to share a little about myself, and inform you of some of the fun activities we have planned for the summer.

I currently serve as an Intervention Specialist with MINDscapes. Previously I served the students in a similar role in the Cincinnati area. It is such a pleasure to now be in Columbus working with the students at South Columbus Prepatory Academy at Southfield.

Our team has been working hard to plan an exciting summer for all involved. Each day we will be participating in hands-on science activities. For example; The Great Egg Drop – to explore Newton’s laws of gravity, Cardstock Marble Roller Coasters – to learn about the laws of motion, Pasta Car Races – to learn how to calculate speed, and much much more!

Also, each day we will have optional structured activity times, where students can choose their own paths. They can decide to participate in arts and crafts, field sports, and other engaging activities. Finally, every other week we will be taking field trips to places in pickerington like the community swimming pool. We are looking forward to learning and having fun with all of you this summer and we can’t wait to make memories that will last a lifetime!
What will our Summer Science Camp entail?

We will have multiple activites each day that will teach the basic principles of science in fun and interactive ways.  We understand that alot of learning takes place outside of the classroom, so we are taking the “classroom” outdoors!  The Fairfield Fish and Game is a beautiful location with access to lots of fresh air and nature!  All of the camp counselors are well-trained MINDscapes employess.

Professionals will be involved from our education, behavior, speech and language, occupational therapy, and counseling departments.  We are able to facilitate socia interactions with children who have difficult behavior and deficits in social skills.  We love to teach, but more importantly we help children find their areas of strength and watch them grow!
